BIO

Jenny Koons is a New York-based director. She specializes in bringing diverse artists together to create original cross-disciplinary work. Recent collaborators include 2015 Female Beatbox World Champion Kaila Mullady, actor/poet/playwright Craig 'muMs' Grant, globe-trotting DJ Rich Medina, Ex Machina video artist David Leclerc, international tabla innovator Gurpreet Chana, The Dance Cartel, The TEAM, Cirque De Demain award-winning artist Kyle Driggs, chefs Tyrell and Hopkins of Lucullan Foods, and jazz composer Noah Agruss.



Recent projects: Instant SPKRBOX (SPKRBOX Festival commission, Norway), Bars and Measures (NNPN world premiere),Gimme Shelter (Why Not Theatre, Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games commission), I'm Not the Stranger You Think I Am (Theatre for One, Arts Brookfield), Wet Clutch (La Mama), Abyme (Philadelphia School of Circus Arts, Dixon Place), A Sucker Emcee (LAByrinth Theater, SPKRBOX Festival, Verkstedhallen, Dramatikkens Hus), Queen of the Night (2014 Drama Desk Award), The Odyssey Project 2012 (Dixon Place, Site-specific across NYC). Jenny has created work for unconventional venues including Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York, Diamond Horseshoe Nightclub, Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, and The Invisible Dog Art Center. Guest director at the LAByrinth Theater Intensive Ensemble. She has been an artist in residence at the Playwrights’ Centre Montreal (2015), Philadelphia School of Circus Arts (2015), SPACE on Ryder Farm (2014), and The Invisible Dog Art Center (2011). Jenny is the co-founder of Artists 4 Change NYC (National Black Theatre) and serves on the advisory panel for Artistic Directors of the Future, a UK-based initiative. She is a 2016 director for the Playground at The Lark Play Development Center. Jenny joined the SPACE on Ryder Farm curation team in 2015 with the mission of increasing diversity and equity within artist residency programming.
