BWW Review: A DOLL'S HOUSE at Iowa Stage: Opening a New Season with a Slam!
In 1879, a door slam was heard around the world when Henrik Ibsen's 'A Doll's House' concluded for the first time. While the play is known for its ending, Iowa Stage is using it to open two new beginning for them, the beginning of a new season, and the beginning of a new location. I feel that this added to the buzz and excitement for 'A Doll's House,' and the upcoming 'A Doll's House: Part 2' being done in repertoire. The combination of a new performance space and a new season made this a dazzling evening of theatre.
Judging Committee and Shortlist Announced For Inaugural Popcorn Group Writing Award
This year will see the inaugural Popcorn Group Writing Award in association with the Pleasance Theatre celebrate writing excellence at the Fringe. Platforming writers and artists that ignite and challenge the status quo, the award will be presented on 14th August at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to the most fearless and topical piece of new writing.

Broadway legend Joel Grey (CABARET, WICKED) and Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein (FINDING NEVERLAND) were honored last night at this year's Fred and Adele Astaire Awards. The gala evening CELEBRATED the 2015 season's outstanding dance and choreography on Broadway and film. Winners included Leanne Cope for Best Female Dancer, Robert Fairchild and Tony Yazbeck (tie) for Best Male Dancer and Christopher Wheeldon and Joshua Bergasse (tie) for Best Choreography.

The ASCAP Foundation Awards Ceremony was held at The Appel Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center and Broadwayworld was there. This years recipient of the Masters Award was composer John Corigliano. Mr. Corigliano has also won fiver Grammy's a Pulitzer Prize the Grawemeyer Award and an Academy Award for his many scores and compositions. Rupert Holmes, Composer, Playwright, lyricist, mystery novelist, arranger-conductor, screenwriter, record producer and singer-songwriter received the Foundations George M. Cohan Award which is made possible by the Friars Foundation.

The ASCAP Foundation just honored Tony Award-winning lyricist and director of Annie Martin Charnin with the first-ever ASCAP Foundation George M. Cohan Award at their 18th annual Awards Ceremony last night, December 11th. The invitation-only event, hosted by ASCAP Foundation President Paul Williams, was held at the Allen Room, Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City.
