Jessica Cavanagh's SELF-INJURIOUS BEHAVIOR Sets NY Showcase Run
After an incredibly successful workshop run at Theatre Three's Theater Too in Dallas, playwright Jessica Cavanagh's SELF-INJURIOUS BEHAVIOR is headed for a New York showcase run at Urban Stages. Produced by the Dallas-based team of Cavanagh, actor/director Marianne Galloway, and producer Bren Rapp, the play will run in April during Autism Awareness Month and will feature the original workshop cast under Galloway's direction. Along with the cast of seven, which includes Dallas acting powerhouses Ian Ferguson, Danielle Pickard, Jennifer Kuenzer and Cavanagh, starring as a fictionalized version of herself, the orignal Dallas production and design team including set designer Jeff Schimdt (Artistic Director of Theatre Three) will be involved in transitioning the show from its local workshop phase to its New York showcase. Acting as associate producer, former DFW actor/artist now based in New York, Montgomery Sutton, will help to bring the play to the New York market. Living Over The Rainbow is a new musical based on a true story that made national headlines in 2008 when a young gay teenager, Lawrence King, was murdered by a fellow classmate at his high school in Oxnard, California. The circumstances of his death and the issues brought to light by it have now been made into a heartfelt and inspirational musical about acceptance and finding peace crafted by Roz Esposito.

The Production: Making their return from the adult professional theatre scene in New York, award winning Fun House Theatre and Film puts their pint size powerhouses back in action with a comedic offering going all the way back to the roots of what we now know as comedy as they mount an approachable and clever adaptation of the Commedia dell'arte classic, The Servant of Two Masters. In 2013, Fun House Theatre and Film forever changed the landscape of children's theatre in DFW with an original play that defied convention, expectation and possibility, Bren Rapp and Jeff Swearingen's DAFFODIL GIRLS. The production became the talk of the industry, media outlets locally and nationally and after selling out its original run had to be brought back for a second round, with a cast of young actresses ages 6-15 becoming the envy of the adult set of artists who continued to pack a small black box theatre in Plano to experience what became a phenomenon.
