BIO
Javon King is a New York City based actor, singer, and dancer.
He was recently seen as Seaweed J Stubbs in the Hairspray Australian Tour, where he recieved a Green Room Award nomination for his performance. He was recently in the Australian premiere of The Inheritance as Tristan/Young Man 6. He was also in the Antipodes Theatre Company's production of Guys & Dolls, at Chapel Off Chapel as Sky Masterson.
Professionally, Javon has toured internationally and across the United States as Angel Dumontt Schunard in the 20th and 25th anniversary tours of Rent. He was also in the commercial for "Hairspray Live!" back in 2016 before the airing of the show among other credits.
Javon received his BFA in Musical Theatre from Rider University in 2019 and continues to work on honing in his craft as a performer!

Review: HAIRSPRAY at Melbourne's Regent Theatre
Hey Melbourne, welcome to the 60's! It's time to put on your most colourful and crazily patterned outfit, tease your hair big, bold, and beautiful, and head on down to the Regent Theatre. Hairspray is back and this time it's the original Broadway version of the musical! Having grown up listening to the original Broadway cast album, it was a sheer delight for a theatre nerd like me to see the original version of Hairspray here in Australia. Seeing this production's opening night performance which coincided exactly 20 years from Hairspray's Broadway premiere was also a big fat cherry on the top! While some elements of the original version do now feel slightly dated and some of this production's casting choices don't always allow Hairspray's vibrant characters to shine as brightly as one would like, you can't deny that this show is just so much fun. From the moment the show opens with 'Good Morning Baltimore' to the standing ovation worthy finale of 'You Can't Stop The Beat', Hairspray will put a smile on your face and have you dancing in your seat.

Loosely based on Pucinni's La Bohème, the play touches a strong cord among young adults and artists in its portrayal of the incredible fear of death, the joys of new love and the loss of creative spaces. We here in San Francisco can surely empathize with Rent's messages. This spectacular touring cast was embraced heartily by a very youthful audience, who, while not born during the AID crisis, still experience its long-lasting ramifications.
