The Toronto Fringe, the non-profit charitable organization that runs Ontario’s largest theatre festival, has announced new staff appointments with Rachel Kennedy as Executive Director, Co-Lead and Laura Paduch as Managing Director, Co-Lead in advance of the 36th Annual Toronto Fringe Festival this summer.
Toronto Fringe Festival Smashes All Box Office Records
The 2019 Toronto Fringe Festival wrapped up yesterday after 12 successful days of live theatre, dance, comedy, musicals and increased free programming at Fringe's patio, POSTSCRIPT. Toronto Fringe is pleased to report that ticket sales for the 2019 Fringe Festival were $40,000 ahead of the incredibly successful 2018 Fringe Festival - making it the best-selling Toronto Fringe of all time. In a time of austerity and cutbacks, Fringe is proud to announce that the indie, grassroots theatre spirit is alive and well - and people are flocking to this 31-year-old movement, which has become a feeder-system of the performing arts ecology in Canada.
Toronto Fringe Festival 2019 Announces Lineup
THE TORONTO FRINGE FESTIVAL returns this summer with an extensive line-up of productions by award-winning artists, the popular POSTSCRIPT pop-up patio, and for the first time, will venture to the East End with 16 shows presented at main venue Streetcar Crowsnest. The TORONTO FRINGE takes place July 3 July 14, 2019 with 151 shows at 46 venues presented across the city, and all venues are fully accessible.
Tracey Erin Smith's SoulOTheatre Announces Programming
Artistic Director and award-winning solo performer Tracey Erin Smith has announced the programming for SoulOTheatre's inaugural SoulOTheatre Festival. Some of best solo performers from Canada and the United States take the stage from May 23-26 at the Red Sandcastle Theatre in Toronto's Leslieville. As well, the festival features a series of panels and workshops, with experts teaching the public how to do this work themselves.
