Hedgerow Theatre Presents THE SERVANT OF TWO MASTERS
Director Aaron Cromie had two major goals when he set out to adapt Carlo Goldoni's The Servant of Two Masters, now playing at Hedgerow Theatre through June 26. First, he wanted to make the cast laugh out loud at the first read-through, knowing that their enjoyment would be incorporated into their performances, and then passed on to the audience. Ebenezer Scrooge is the central character in Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, but equally important to the story are the spirits whose visits transform him from miser to philanthropist. In his new adaptation of the classic, which runs through December 27, Hedgerow Theatre Artistic Director Jared Reed decided to incorporate the use of puppets to portray them.
Hedgerow Theatre to Present A CHRISTMAS CAROL
Reed reassures audiences that there will be no major changes to the production, which remains faithful to Dickens' tale of the redemption of Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserable, selfish miser whose heart is transformed after he is visited by a series of spirits on Christmas Eve. 'The set and basic story will all be familiar,' he confirmed 'because it's a classic just as it is. It isn't a rewrite, per se, just a script that better suits our company.'

It opens with a preview tonight, July 10, and runs through August 17.
