As the theater community in NYC continues to get back on its feet following the pandemic, two new theaters have just been added to the mix as La MaMa re-opened its landmark theaters at 74A E. 4 St. – following a 3-year, $24 million renovation.
Japanese Production Of PIPPIN Resumes Performances At Orix Theater, September 23

The Japanese-language production of the Tony-winning revival of Pippin, directed by Tony winner Diane Paulus, resumes its tour at the Orix Theater in Osaka September 23 following the cancellation of its performance in Tokyo, September 10-19 due to COVID cases within the company. The tour reopens at the Orix Theatre in Osaka and continuing through September 27.
PIPPIN Opens at Sydney Lyric Theatre Tonight

Pippin is set to open at the Sydney Lyric Theatre Tonight, November 24! The live production, the first one back in Sydney, will run until January 31, 2021. With a beloved score by Tony Award nominee STEPHEN SCHWARTZ, PIPPIN tells the story of a young prince on a death-defying journey to find meaning in his existence.

On October 18, 2019, Theatre Forward, a non-profit arts organization based in New York City, held an evening of Creative Conversation & Cocktails with Special Guests David Henry Hwang, Tony-winning playwright of M. Hope-aholics Initiative Sends Over 2,200 Students to GLORIA: A LIFE

Over 2,200 students have seen GLORIA: A Life, the groundbreaking play about activist and icon Gloria Steinem, thanks to the generosity of Hope-aholics. Named for Steinem, who coined the phrase, the Hope-aholics initiative allows donors to underwrite student tickets so that the next generation of activists can take inspiration from her story. Launched in October 2018, the program has raised over $66,000 in donations in under five months.

Lane hosted a dinner at the new Bond45 for a pre-theater meal and conversation about commercial producing. Also, at the table to share their expertise was another multi Tony Award winning couple, Janet Kagan (also a Drama League Board member) and Howard Kagan and the Drama League's Executive Artistic Director, Gabriel Stelian-Shanks and Program Director, Sherri Eden Barber.

The Drama League today announced the 2017-2018 Board of Directors Executive Committee. Longtime board members assuming new leadership roles are Stan Ponte, named President, along with Bonnie Comley, 1st Vice President, Kathy Henderson, 2nd Vice President, Susan Lang, 3rd Vice President, Anna May Feige, Secretary and Ken Wirth, Treasurer.

Multi-platinum recording artist Ingrid Michaelson has joined the cast of Broadway's Tony Award-winning musical NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 as Sonya. Michaelson will be performing the role from July 3 to August 15, while Brittain Ashford, who originated the role of 'Sonya' takes a temporary leave from the show. Ashford will return to THE GREAT COMET on August 16. Ingrid Michaelson will not be performing August 2 through August 6.
