The Met Museum Launches Fourth Season of THE ARTIST PROJECT, Online Video Series

The fourth season of The Artist Project, the online video series created by The Metropolitan Museum of Art, launched today-Monday, December 7. Each episode in the series features an artist who discusses an individual work of art or gallery at the Met that sparks his or her imagination. The series will be presented in six seasons of 20 episodes each.

NEW YORK, NY - In celebration of its 5th Anniversary, the Manhattan-based Flag Art Foundation hosted a Group Exhibition on the 9th floor of their exhibition space, featuring fifteen emerging and established artists, namely Cecily Brown, Marc Dennis, Ellen Gallagher, Jane Hammond, Nir Hod, Jim Hodges, Wayne Lawrence, Josephine Meckseper, Julie Mehretu, Chris Ofili, Ged Quinn, Charles Ray, Gerhard Richter, Jeff Sonhouse and Mathew Weir. In addition, FLAG organized a number of salon events as a thank you to the foundation's supporters and to welcome new visitors.

Participating in Art Hong Kong is another step in Galerie Lelong artists' distinguished history in Asia and the Pacific Rim. Museum participation began with a 1937 Japanese exhibition on Surrealism which included the work of Joan Miró. Since the 60's, Miró's work has been presented in a number of monographic exhibitions in Japan. Alberto Giacometti's first monographic exhibition in Tokyo took place at the Minami Gallery in 1958, and Giacometti in Asia recently toured Japan and Singapore from 2007-08.

Harry Houdini (1874-1926), the renowned magician and escape artist, was one of the 20th century's most famous performers. His gripping theatrical presentations and heart-stopping outdoor spectacles attracted unprecedented crowds, and his talent for self-promotion and provocation captured headlines on both sides of the Atlantic. The Jewish Museum is presenting the first major art museum exhibition to examine Houdini's life, legend, and enduring cultural influence from October 29, 2010 through March 27, 2011. Through 163 objects, including 26 recent works of art, exhibition visitors will explore the career and legacy of the celebrated entertainer while considering his lasting impact on contemporary art and culture.
