Empower Her Project Honors Women In Politics, Community Service, And Activism

The 2nd Annual Women of Color Empowerment Brunch produced by founders Raquel Wilson and Tynisha Lewis of the Empower Her Network hosted a groundbreaking platform for women of color. The brunch took place in the city of Watts California and was met with an overwhelming community response of young professional women of color starting out in business. The afternoon was hosted by Wilson and Lewis who honored three outstanding women of color in politics, activism, community service for their vast achievements, with a panel of seven influential women of color from various industries, moderated by Syd Stewart, Founder & Executive Director of Better Youth. Each panelist shared their stories, challenges, victories and secrets to success. 
The 2nd Annual Women of Color Empowerment Brunch Announced

The Empower Her Project CEO and Founders Raquel Wilson and Tynisha Lewis announced today that the 2nd Annual Women of Color Empowerment Brunch (WCEB) will be held Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm at Jordan Downs Community Center, 1501 E. 103rd Street in Los Angeles, California. The brunch is designed to bridge a gap between young millennial women of color who are starting out in business, connecting them with veteran women of color from around the world who are already thriving in business. WCEB is where you meet experts to grow your business. 'It is time for us as women of color to come together to empower and celebrate one another. When we do this, we are unstoppable,' says Wilson and Lewis.
ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK Star Lea DeLaria to Perform Jazz Inspired David Bowie Cabaret Show

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Grand Performances, the "Best Free Outdoor Summer Concert Series" in Los Angeles, will hold a benefit concert by "Orange Is the New Black" star Lea DeLaria and the Los Angeles premiere of Lea DeLaria: House of David, her jazz-influenced tribute to David Bowie. Tickets are $30 and will help support the annual summer slate of free concerts offered by Grand Performances at California Plaza in downtown Los Angeles. Tickets for the Saturday, September 17 event are on sale now.
