Children's Playhouse of Maryland Triumphs at National Junior Theater Festival

The Children's Playhouse of Maryland, in residence at CCBC Essex, garnered two major awards at this year's invitational Junior Theater Festival. CPM's production of Disney's The Little Mermaid, Jr. captured the prestigious Freddy Gershon Award for Excellence in Music. Jamie Watson of Baltimore, (pictured left) as the Sea Witch Ursula, won the coveted Outstanding Female Performer award. Brad Bowers of Towson and Jamie Watson were named Festival Performing All Stars and Nick Logue of Essex and Tony Steiner of Baltimore were named Festival Technical Theatre All Stars.

The Children's Playhouse of Maryland, Inc., in residence at CCBC Essex, performs Disney's "The Little Mermaid, Jr." for its 2012 holiday fare. The musical runs weekends at 1 p.m. today, Dec. 8 through Dec. 23 except the Dec. 15 performance is sold out with an additional performance 4 p.m., Dec. 16, in J-137, the J Building Lecture Hall, CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd.

REWIND SCOTLAND - The 80s Festival, which takes place between July 20th and 22nd at Scone Palace, Perthshire, have today confirmed that Ali Campbell will no longer perform at this year's festival.Replacing Ali Campbell on the bill will be post-punk legends BIG COUNTRY, who emerged from Scotland in the early 80's with one of the most distinctive rock sounds ever produced.
