Jay commenced the first complete recording of the original version of the musical with the original orchestrations by Philip J. Lang at Abbey Road Studios, London on October 5 1996 and completed it at Clinton Recording Studios, New York on October 19 1996. This will be the first time it is released to the public.

The only other musical written by Rent composer Jonathan Larson, tick, tick...Boom!, opens at the Bridge House Theatre this evening. The show is semi-autobiographical, based on Larson's own career. Set in 1990s New York, it follows the complex life of Jon, a 'promising' young composer, approaching 30 and with no idea where his life and career are heading. This thought-provoking yet funny show is packed with great songs, and is just as relevant today.

Casting has been announced for the Barn Theatre Cirencester's inaugural professional production of The Secret Garden, which will run from March 16 to April 15. The evening will feature a Cuban-themed cocktail reception and patron party, special presentation of Barry Manilow's Copacabana, and a limited live auction that will include the opportunity to appear on stage in Act II that evening. Guests can also vie to win two tickets to TheatreZone's 2018-19 main stage shows.

A popular venue in London is Penge's Bridge House Theatre, and this year their Christmas treat is a stage version of the perennial film favourite, Miracle On 34th Street.
