As an early holiday present for opera lovers, On November 12 and 13, the Verdi Chorus’ 39th season culminates with a Verdi Puccini Fest for two performances only at the First Presbyterian Church in Santa Monica. Under the direction of Founding Artistic Director Anne Marie Ketchum, who promises the program will include “some of the most exciting moments from two of the greatest operatic composers who ever lived,” I decided to speak with her on its inception, creation, and what makes the Verdi Chorus such a special part of our city.

The Verdi Chorus' 39th season culminates with A Verdi Puccini Fest, for two performances only at the First Presbyterian Church in Santa Monica on November 12 and 13. Led by Founding Artistic Director Anne Marie Ketchum, the Verdi Chorus is the only choral group in Southern California that focuses primarily on the dramatic and diverse music for opera chorus.

BWW Review: COVID FAN TUTTE at Methodist Church In Camarillo
On Sunday afternoon November 22, 2020, Pacific Opera Project (POP) presented COVID Fan Tutte, an updated version of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Lorenzo da Ponte’s Cosi Fan Tutte. The perfomance was presented drive-in style in the parking lot of the United Methodist Church on Anacapa Drive in Camarillo, CA. The lot accommodates 90 carefully positioned cars from which patrons see the a live opera performance on a raised stage and hear it on their cars’ FM sets.

Mendelssohn Choir Of Pittsburgh Hosts Candid Conversations For Choral Music
The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh (MCP) has been connecting communities to the art of choral music for 112 years, and even a pandemic will not stop the choir from continuing that mission. This summer, MCP has teamed up with the Oratorio Society of Minnesota (OSM) to offer a?oeCandid Conversations,a?? a weekly, online program that will combine professional vocal coaching sessions with lectures on timely topics in choral music. The sessions, which are free and open to all, will be held on Wednesdays, 8-9:30 p.m. EST, July 8 through August 5.
