An elite group of twenty of the most talented young opera singers in the country competed this week for prestige and cash prizes in the 31st Annual Dallas Opera Guild Vocal Competition. At the conclusion of this evening's exciting Finals Round, hosted by Miss America 2019 Nia Franklin, the winners were announced from the stage of the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House at the AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas:

Her (Helen Budge) and Him (James Clay) - brother and sister with an unprivileged upbringing of poverty - show what it means to live in a constant state of instability caused by depression and anxiety, in a place where everyone seems to be against them. It is through their eyes that Fleming's audiences see the actual overwhelming despair that comes when everything becomes too much to handle, and the play becomes a relevant, valid depiction of mental illnesses told in sincerity and with a no-nonsense attitude.

NBR New Zealand Opera has been going from strength to strength over recent years, and this latest production of Tosca is no exception.
Cleverly set during the Cold War era of Italy during the 1950s, this production stars two internationally famous New Zealanders, the tenor Simon O'Neill and the baritone Phillip Rhodes, who are joined by Irish soprano Orla Boylan in the title role.
