BIO

James Backway was born on the 26th January in Croydon, London. He trained at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts.



His stage credits include playing Albert Narracott in the National Theatre's acclaimed production of War Horse by Michael Morpurgo at the New London Theatre in London's West End, Stanley Yelnats in the UK Tour of Holes, Algernon Moncrieff in The Importance of Being Earnest at The Anthony Hopkins Theatre, The Sound of Music at The London Palladium, and playing Lucentio in William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew at the world famous Globe Theatre in London.

In its eighth year, and having now been seen by over 6 million worldwide, a new cast of 26 actors and 12 puppeteers join the company on 16 March 2015 led by the show's equine star Joey. War Horse recently completed sell-out dates in South Africa visiting Johannesburg and Cape Town and has now returned to the UK where it will complete a record-breaking national tour in Bristol next month.
