2024 Sundance Film Festival Announces Short Film Award Winners
The Short Film Grand Jury Prize, awarded to one film in the program of 53 shorts selected from 12,098 submissions, went to The Masterpiece, directed and written by Alex Lora Cercos. This year's Short Film jurors are Christina Oh, Danny Pudi, and Charlotte Regan – all of whom are Festival Alumni in honor of the Festival's 40th Edition.
AMERICAN BUFFALO Enters Final Weeks of Performances
Laurence Fishburne, Sam Rockwell and Darren Criss currently star in the Broadway revival of AMERICAN BUFFALO by David Mamet, directed by Neil Pepe. AMERICAN BUFFALO will end its previously announced strictly limited 16-week engagement on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at Circle in the Square Theatre.

After completing the most terrifying 4-part theatrical event of the fall, The Flea Theater will present an evening of winners of THE CUTTHROAT SERIES: GRAND GUIGNOL DUELS. Audience members were asked to vote on their favorite play during presentations of 4 separate pods of themed Grand Guignol plays (Gore, Cruelty, Night Terror, and Lust) which began in September. Now, these 4 winning plays will return for a limited run beginning January 15. These turn-of-the-century French plays alternate between ghastly horrors and carnal comedies to create a gripping, deplorable evening of theater.

The Flea Theater presents Pod 2 of their terrifying 4 part theatrical event - THE CUTTHROAT SERIES: GRAND GUIGNOL DUELS beginning October 14. These turn of the century French plays alternate between ghastly horrors and carnal comedies to create a gripping, deplorable evening of theater. To add to that thrill, audience members will vote on their favorite play from each of the four pods (titled GORE, CRUELTY, NIGHT TERROR, and LUST) and the winners will return for an extended run in January. The winner from GORE was TICS, OR DOING THE DEED.
Annual Lantern Festival to Light Up Clanwilliam Next Month
A performance event that is one of the Western Cape's best kept secrets will once again light up the skies when the Clanwilliam Arts Project takes place this September. Clanwilliam Arts Project and Magnet Theatre Seek Funding for T-Shirts
The Clanwilliam Arts Project - locally named the Lantern festival - has been co-ordinated by Magnet Theatre for the past 14 years. The project, which runs annually in September in the small town of Clanwilliam in the Cederberg mountains, is a week-long series of multi-disciplinary arts workshops for 800 children from the area. The project celebrates the history and culture of the region and the energy, life and talent of their children.
