Nat Geo WILD to Premiere OUT THERE WITH JACK RANDALL
At just six years old, Jack Randall fell in love with snakes while he was watching a TV special on Venezuelan anacondas half a world away from his home in England. Studying invertebrates obsessively ever since, Jack left his home in England at only age 14 to apprentice for his hero Steve Irwin, promising Steve on his 15th birthday that he'd be a steward for wildlife for the rest of his life.

BWW Recap: Can Anyone 'Ransom a Man's Soul' on Tonight's OUTLANDER Finale?
I'm going to cut to the chase here: tonight's season finale of OUTLANDER was hard to watch. I mean, really hard to watch. It made 'Wentworth Prison' look like an episode of 'Full House.' I'm pretty sure my skin was crawling for the entire 60 minutes, starting with that first shot of Jamie staring dead into the camera. Jamie, whose dashing heroics and boyish humor charmed us all season long, now broken, with empty eyes and mangled hands. And as the camera slowly pans up to reveal a naked Jack Randall lying beside him, we come to understand. We didn't need to see exactly what had preceded this moment because the look on Jamie's face says it all. And maybe we even gave a tiny sigh of relief that we didn't see what happened. But that doesn't last long. Not to compare Jamie's experience to our own watching the episode, but it seemed like the audience was meant to undergo some psychological torment, too, with enough subsequent images to send us directly into the shower to wash off that Black Jack grime as soon as it was over.
BWW Recap: Tonight's OUTLANDER Takes Us Inside 'Wentworth Prison'
Is it possible that only last week we watched Claire deliver a Scotch-ified 'Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy' while dressed in drag? Do I have that right? I find that so hard to believe after sitting through 'Wentworth Prison,' the season's penultimate episode, and a different beast altogether. For fans of the book who already knew exactly what would go down at Wentworth, I'm sure this was something of a highly-anticipated episode. It was for me, anyway, and even though I knew what to expect, it's one thing to read it on a page and another to see it played out on screen. Tonight's episode was, in a word, heavy. Ha, and only one week ago I called 'The Search' 'kooky.' Take me back to simpler times. Alright, I'm being dramatic. In all seriousness though, 'Wentworth Prison', if you look past the obvious--which I will certainly be getting to--was a very good episode.
BWW Recap: It's Finally Home Sweet 'Lallybroch' on Tonight's OUTLANDER
Last week's episode of OUTLANDER was wild. Witches. Time travelers. Courtroom drama. 'Lallybroch' was basically the complete opposite, but not in a bad way. It gave us all a chance to catch our breath--the calm before yet another eventual storm, I'm sure. It wasn't particularly action-heavy, but neither was 'The Wedding' earlier this season, and much like episode seven, what 'Lallybroch' lacked in momentum, it made up for in development, focusing more on characters and relationships. Plus we finally got to see Lallybroch, which was great, because Jamie just would not shut up about it, y'know...
BWW Recap: 'By the Pricking of My Thumbs,' Something Witchy This Way Comes on OUTLANDER
A lot went down on tonight's episode of OUTLANDER. And I mean a lot. So much, in fact, that it felt like the type of episode that would pave the way for one heck of a season finale. But guess what, folks? We still have six episodes to go! So if this is Ronald D. Moore's idea of a typical filler episode, well then my goodness, color me impressed.
BWW Recap: OUTLANDER's Back with a 'Reckoning' in its Mid-Season Premiere
Welcome back to the 18th century, my fellow lads and lasses! If you, like me, spent the last 6-ish months in a state of downright painful anticipation, the wait is finally over. The STARZ hit OUTLANDER is back and ready to dominate TV screens once again. When we last saw our favorite new “it couple,” you may (definitely) recall, Claire had been captured by the British, specifically by the super evil and super skeevy Black Jack Randall, only to be saved by her dashing new beau Jamie at the last second. The mid-season premiere picks up where we left off, more or less. It opens with a voiceover from Jamie, which is a bit different; Claire's typically the one who handles the disembodied introspection and such. Now it's Jamie's turn to contemplate, making it clear right from the get-go that this episode will be Jamie-centric.

BWW Recap: OUTLANDER Mid-Season Finale; Full Review!
It's shocking to me, fellow lads and lasses, that we've already reached Episode 8. Seems like only yesterday we were tumbling through the stones of Craigh na Dun like a wee little Sassenach. I approach this mid-season finale with mixed emotions. Of course I'm excited to see what happens next to the Highlands' newest 'it' couple, but with a recently announced air date of April 4, 2015, the midseason premiere just seems so far away. Too far away, I tell you! And I know tonight's episode will end with a cliffhanger, because showrunners just love messing with fans that way, don't they? They seem to get some sick joy out of it, and I both love and hate them for it. Such is the burden of the TV junkie.
BWW Recap: Black Jack's Back, There's Gonna be Some Trouble on OUTLANDER
This week's episode of OUTLANDER picks up right where we left off, with the young Jeremy Foster, flanked by his English comrades, asking Claire if she is with the Mackenzies by her own volition. Brief dramatic pause. Claire smiles warmly, gives a big ol' “Yup!” and it's another crisis averted. Sort of. Foster's happy for her and everything, but his commander will still want to see her. Y'know. Just to be sure. So off Claire goes with the gang of Brits, and she finds it comforting to finally be surrounded by her “own people” for the first time since falling through the stones, being looked at with sympathy rather than suspicion. Lord Oliver Thomas greets her happily, delighted by her tales of robbery and murder. No, like, really delighted. It's kind of weird, actually. He's insufferable, dissing Dougal and his clansmen right to his face. I mean, he even makes fun of his accent, and I'm sorry, Lord Thomas, but literally everyone loves a Scottish accent, so excuse you. Claire politely defends the Highlanders, and is ultimately rewarded with an offer of an escort back to Inverness. Oh, Ms. Beauchamp, could the day get any better?
BWW Recap: OUTLANDER Invites You to Join 'The Gathering'
The episode begins with a frantic Claire running through the woods, darting around trees and panting heavily, as a sentry keeps his watchful post from above. It's all wracked with tension and suspense, particularly when we recall Claire's ominous testimony at the end of last week's installment: get back to Craigh na Dun, or “die trying.” Run, Claire, run! we simple viewers implore—for all of ten seconds, until we realize, oh but of course, she's just playing a game. We, and the sentry, relax as Ms. Beauchamp emerges from the trees, a gaggle of pint-sized Scots eagerly giggling at her heels. Claire is smoothly transitioning into life at Castle Leoch, it seems—but as always, Claire is really fixated on just one thing: freedom. And no matter how much fun she and the wee bairns appear to be having, she's using the game to better explore the castle grounds. For escape routes. Oh, girl, that is clever.
BWW Recap: Star-Crossed Love Blossoms on OUTLANDER
This week's episode picks up on the heels of the last, with Claire and her Highlander captors entering the courtyard of the Castle Leoch. If Claire had any lingering doubts as to her whereabouts, or, rather, timeabouts, she can have them no longer, as the castle she and Frank last saw and toured as a ruin, stands before her, intact and alive and rather intimidating.
Starz Premieres OUTLANDER Tonight
Starz's highly anticipated new original series 'Outlander,' adapted from Diana Gabaldon's international best-selling books and executive produced by Ronald D. Moore ('Battlestar Galactica,' 'Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,' 'Star Trek: The Next Generation') will debut tonight, August 9th at 9pm ET/PT.
BWW Recap: OUTLANDER Delivers Witches and Redcoats and Kilts, Oh My!
Something very exciting is happening on today's small screens. The adult fantasy is becoming an actual thing-and a popular one at that. In a world where 'Game of Thrones' not only exists, but actually thrives on cable TV, Ronald D. Moore's 'Outlander' has all the potential to become another hit, and after the series premiere, I predict it probably will. Which isn't to say that that the new Starz series should be compared with the HBO smash. Both may have originally begun as sweeping epics stretching across thousands of pages of thick-spined behemoths before making it to the screen (the novel Outlander, by Diana Gabaldon, is the first of currently eight books upon which the new series is based), but the similarities end there. 'Game of Thrones' has the vast imaginary land of Westeros. Knights in shining armor. Oh yeah, and dragons. 'Outlander' has Inverness. Burly Scotsmen in tartan kilts. And no dragons. So I repeat, this is not 'Game of Thrones,' but, as it turns out, that's just fine. If the series premiere proved anything, it's that 'Outlander' doesn't need to compete with 'Game of Thrones.' It's more than capable of standing on its own two feet. Plus it has time travel. And time travel is pretty cool.
