Playwright Ishmael Reed uses satire to explore aspects of American culture and history overlooked by others. His newest play, 'The Slave Who Loved Caviar: A Theatrical Investigation Into the Relationship Between Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol,' challenges the notion that Basquiat was merely Warhol's 'mascot.' Theater for the New City will present its world premiere December 23, 2021 to January 9, 2022, directed by Reed's frequent collaborator, Carla Blank.

Taken by the one-sided commentary about the relationship between Andy Warhol, a god of the New York Art World, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, made by Warhol groupies and critics, Reed offers a different view. His new play, 'The Slave Who Loved Caviar, A Theatrical Investigation Into the Relationship Between Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol,' challenges the notion that Jean-Michel Basquiat was merely Warhol’s “mascot.”

Cockpit in Court continues its 2015 season with a special treat for murder mystery fans. An Evening of Murder consists of two murder mysteries for the price of one. The Book of Murder and Art of Murder will be presented each night of its run. The show runs from tonight, July 18th to August 2nd.

Williamston Theatre Announces 2014-2015 Season
The Williamston Theater, mid-Michigan's award winning professional theatre company located at 122 S. Putnam in downtown Williamston, celebrates its 9th Season with a mix of comedies, dramas, murders, World Premiers and Michigan Premiers. The 2014-2015 Season will include: The Gravedigger: A Frankenstein Story by Joseph Zettelmaier, Miracle on South Division Street by Tom Dudzik, The Best Brothers by Daniel MacIvor, Sirens by Deborah Zoe Laufer, Outside Mullingar by John Patrick Shanley and The Art of Murder by Joe DiPietro.
Playwright Art DiPietro To Visit Florida Rep
Known most notably for his Off Broadway musical sensation, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, and the comedy about family relations, Over the River and Through the Woods, DiPietro is one of America's most prolific playwrights with new productions of his work popping up all over the country. At the time of his visit, DiPietro will have three plays in production in Fort Myers.
