Segerstrom Center for the Arts to Celebrate International Women's Month With Free Event

Segerstrom Center for the Arts is celebrating International Women's Month on Saturday, March 21 on the Julianne and George Argyros Plaza with a FREE event where you can meet inspiring female creators and indulge your own DIY spirit at Rock, Paper, Scissors: ¡DAMAS! Live music pulsating from the Argyros Plaza stage will provide an energetic soundtrack to inspire your creativity. The pop-rock sisters of the Sledge Grits Band will kick off the afternoon, followed by Go Betty Go and their punk rock, rough and tumble sound. Between sets, join us for an open forum conversation with several prominent SoCal women artists and innovators about creativity and what drives them. Try your hand at some art of your own with a colorful mixed media collage workshop led by local artist Trinh Mai. And don't forget to stop by the Segerstrom Center booth and create a pin with our special button-making machine! Porchlight Music Theatre Begins 25th Season With CHICAGO SINGS

Porchlight Music Theatre is proud to announce the 14th Annual Chicago Sings concert: Chicago Sings 25 Years of Porchlight, Monday, Aug. 5 at 7 p.m., at The Museum of Contemporary Art, 220 E. Chicago Ave, directed by Christopher Pazdernik and Artistic Director Michael Weber with music direction by David Fiorello. Reception begins at 6 p.m. with a cocktail hour and light appetizers. Rusted Root Front Man And Other Notable Acts Set To Perform At Hey Nonny This November

"Send Me on My Way"… to Hey Nonny for some killer performances! The newest live music destination and gastropub in Chicagoland, Hey Nonny, 10 S. Vail Ave, proudly adds three amazing acts to its November lineup. Front man for the multi-platinum group Rusted Root, Michael Glabicki, is set to rock out with Dirk Miller, the band's guitarist, at 8:30 p.m. on November 9. Chicago native and internationally-loved musician David Davis hits the Hey Nonny stage for his hometown album release concert at 8:30 p.m. on November 16. On Saturday, November 17 at 8:00 p.m., Chicago favorite JC Brooks Band will bring down the house.
Chicago Creatives, Which Include Second City Alums, Unite To Launch Studio B

What happens when a group of talented Chicago musicians, actors, improvisers, stand-ups, songwriters, and DJs collaborate on a web series? You get "STUDIO B," the three-episode workplace comedy of a struggling Chicago recording studio trying to make a comeback along with supporting its bizarre clientele. STUDIO B can best be described as "30 Rock" meets Spinal Tap coupled with original music by composer Julie B. Nichols. Each episode follows a different musical act entering the studio to record what they hope will be their break-through hit, while the studio staff hopes it will keep them afloat. The first season of STUDIO B will be released Monday, Oct. 22 at 10 p.m. and will be available on www.studiobseries.com, as well as on Vimeo, YouTube, and Instagram TV. The creators of STUDIO B are hosting a public launch party the date of the release (Monday, Oct. 22 from 5 - 10 p.m.) at The Joinery, 2533 W. Homer Street in Logan Square, for fans and supporters to gather and watch the series. The screening will begin at 7 p.m. that night.
