BWW Review: THE CORPSE WASHER at Actors Theatre Of Louisville

A young man is raised with the expectation that he will follow in his father's footsteps, working in the trade and carrying on an important tradition, but instead, he wants to follow his own path and become an artist. It is a classic coming-of-age narrative of a generational and cultural shift that is common enough in Western literature. By finding the same conflict in an Iraqi family, Sinan Antoon's The Corpse Washer shows just how universal fundamental storytelling forms can be.

Held hostage in Pakistan by Islamic revolutionaries, his last chance for freedom depends on his ability to play the stock market to benefit his captors. This sharp geo-political thriller from Pulitzer Prize winner Ayad Akhtar takes us to the treacherous intersection of terrorism and capitalism, where greed and deceit prevail and no one escapes without blood on their hands. Directed by Pirronne Yousefzadeh, The Invisible Hand runs February 17th through March 11, 2018 in the Outcalt Theatre at Playhouse Square.
BWW Reviews: WITTENBERG in Richmond

A joint achievement from Henley Street Theatre and Richmond Shakespeare, David Davalos's WITTENBERG, is the region's latest entry in the Acts of Faith festival. Davalos's script, with puffs of repartee, allusion and other witty wordplay, is heavy handed at times. Lucky for a general audience, he balances his bardish banter with modern language.
