J. Mark McVey is an American actor and singer best known for his work in Broadway musicals. He was born in 1960 in Joplin, Missouri, and grew up in a musical family. He began performing in local theater productions as a child and went on to study voice and theater at Missouri Southern State University.
McVey's Broadway debut came in 1987 when he was cast as Chris in the original production of Miss Saigon. He went on to star in the national tour of the show and later reprised his role on Broadway. McVey's powerful tenor voice and emotional performances earned him critical acclaim and a loyal fan base.
In 1994, McVey took on the role of Jean Valjean in the Broadway production of Les Misérables.
