La Secretaría de Cultura federal y el Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (Inbal), en colaboración con la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL), recordaron la trayectoria y el legado de María de Jesús de la Fuente Casas –María O'Higgins–, promotora cultural, abogada y defensora de los derechos de las mujeres con un homenaje póstumo que se llevó a cabo este lunes 7 de marzo en el marco del Día Internacional de la Mujer.

Tonight, Carnegie Hall opened its 2018-2019 season with a sold out gala benefit concert featuring the San Francisco Symphony conducted by Music Director and Carnegie Hall Perspectives artist Michael Tilson Thomas. The program included Gershwin's Cuban Overture and An American in Paris as well as Liszt's Mephisto Waltz No. 1. Mr. Tilson Thomas and the orchestra were joined on this celebratory occasion by renowned sopranos Renee Fleming and Audra McDonald offering vocal selections by Gershwin, Rodgers, Villa-Lobos, Stephen Sondheim, and others.

Philadelphia Orchestra, Kimmel Center, and Taller Puertorriqueño Raise Funds for Hurricane Relief with WEST SIDE STORY in Concert

The Philadelphia Orchestra, in partnership with The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and local community-based cultural organization Taller Puertorrique o working as part of Unidos PA'PR, has announced a fundraising initiative during next week's performances of West Side Story in Concert led by Yannick N zet-S guin in Verizon Hall (October 12-15, 2017) to assist with hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico. In light of the devastating impact of Hurricane Maria and the closely linked subject matter of the performance, collections will be accepted in the lobby of The Kimmel Center to be distributed through Unidos PA'PR a coalition of community organizations formed to raise funds for recovery efforts in Puerto Rico. The performances also will serve as a powerful reminder of the ongoing relevancy of Bernstein's work and the continued need for unity, embracing Puerto Rico as a U.S. territory, and awareness of economic conditions in the area.
J.R.R. Tolkien's Great Grandson to Bring New Play TEREZIN Off-Broadway

The Steinberg Theater Group announced today that TEREZIN, written and directed by Nicholas Tolkien, the great grandson of novelist J.R.R. Tolkien (The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings trilogy), will make its world premiere at New York's Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 W. 42nd Street, 4th Floor) for a strictly limited engagement beginning Tuesday, June 13 through Sunday, July 2, 2017. Opening Night is set for Tuesday, June 20 at 7:00pm.
