Ingrid Oliu was born in Boyle Heights and raised in Nicaragua, Central America. She has lived in California since 1978. She is best known for her role as "Lupe La Gordita" from the Academy Award nominated film, Stand And Deliver, Warner Brothers. She was Estela in the film Real Women Have Curves and voiced the role of Officer Montoya in Batman The Animated Series, Warner Brothers.

REAL WOMEN HAVE CURVES to be Adapted into Broadway Musical
Barry and Fran Weissler are adapting the acclaimed 2002 independent film Real Women Have Curves into a musical. Sergio Trujillo has been tapped to direct, with Lisa Loomer writing the book and Grammy-winning dup Jesse & Joy writing the score, likely making it the first Broadway musical with a Latine director, bookwriter, lyricist, and composer.

The film of Josefina Lopez's Real Women Have Curves in 2002 was a big hit in art houses and won several Sundance prizes including an audience award for Best Actresses Lupe Ontiveros and America Ferrera, long before her Ugly Betty fame. Lopez's semi-autobiographical play from the 90s about the garment industry and the Latina women who struggle to survive in it - the basis for the film - is currently running at the Pasadena Playhouse through October 4 and has terrific direction from Seema Sueko and a closely connected ensemble of five actresses.

The cast has been announced for The Pasadena Playhouse production of REAL WOMEN HAVE CURVES by Josefina Lopez and directed by Seema Sueko. The cast will feature Blanca Araceli (FX's The Bridge), Santana Dempsey (HBO's The Newsroom), Diana DeLaCruz (ABC Family's Chasing Life), Cristina Frias (The Motherf*cker with the Hat at South Coast Repertory), and Ingrid Oliu (HBO's Real Women Have Curves, Stand and Deliver). CASA 0101 Theater will add two additional performances for the Closing Weekend of the hit play, CLEAN START, a new comedy written and directed by Kathy Fischer (The George Lopez Show) and written and produced by Josefina Lopez (Real Women Have Curves). Emmanuel Deleage, Executive Director of CASA 0101, as well as Producer of the show, said today, 'I am happy to announce that we will be adding two additional performances to the Closing Weekend of CLEAN START, due to show's critical acclaim and popularity with the general public. In addition to performances this Friday and Saturday, February 13th and 14th at 8:00 p.m., and on Sunday, February 15th at 5:00 p.m., we will have a matinee performance on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and an evening performance on Sunday at 8:00 p.m.'
