Musica Viva Appoints Anne Frankenburg as CEO
The Board of Musica Viva Australia has appointed Anne Frankenberg to the position of Chief Executive Officer, taking the reins from Hywel Sims, who has led the acclaimed chamber music company since 2018 and will depart the post to return to the USA.

The renowned Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA) pulls out the stops with two matinee and one evening performance of its annual holiday musical extravaganza - featuring guest appearances by country music legend LeAnn Rimes and Broadway star Sheryl Lee Ralph, and led by guest conductor Tim Seelig, in his GMCLA debut - Saturday, December 18, 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday, December 19, 2010, 3 p.m., at the Alex Theatre in Glendale. Some 150 choristers, resplendent in holiday finery, do Santa proud with a bundle of beloved seasonal works, and dazzling Twelve Days of Christmas 'Black-Light Puppet Spectacular.' A team of merry elves adds to the musical festivities, which kick off the choir's 2010-11 Season, its 32nd.

Gay Men's Chorus of LA Sings for 'It Get's Better'
The critically acclaimed Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA) - a leading artistic force, staunch advocate of civil and human rights, and the first gay men's choir to perform for a sitting president (Bill Clinton) - has harnessed the power of music to create a moving anti-bullying music video message featuring Cyndi Lauper's inspiring anthem 'True Colors' for the Internet's 'It Gets Better' project aimed at LGBT youth. More than 200 people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds from across the Southland - gay and straight - participated in the ambitious five-minute video, which was filmed in the gymnasium of Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles and further establishes GMCLA as a leading force promoting equality and acceptance. Familiar music takes on new meanings when sung by the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles, whether it's 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother' or Tchaikovsky's score for 'The Nutcracker.' Much the same thing happens in the films of Baz Luhrmann. In 'Strictly Ballroom,' 'Romeo + Juliet' and, most memorably, 'Moulin Rouge,' Luhrmann used pop and classical music to chart emotions, creating fresh, vibrant musicals from everyday songs.

GMCLA presents there own twist on a theatrical classic. Since actors of the Greek theatres in the city of Thespiae and long before Shakespeare had penned his very first stage play, men have been theatrically portraying women in productions. Now, in the tradition of Madam Butterfly and Hairspray, the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA) tackled the classic pageantry of the 'Nutcracker: A choral Fantasy' at the Alex Theatre in Glendale California with male chorus members doubling in the female roles. Among those in attendance include Loni Anderson, Kate Linder, Assembly member John Perez (46th District) and Dee Wallace.

Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles proudly announced their new and exciting 2009/20010 season on August 27th at Andaz West Hollywood. On hand for the celebration was the comedic star of stage and screen Carole Cook, who was introduced by GMCLA's Artistic Director, Hywel Sims, as a great friend to both GMCLA as well as the Gay community at large. The evening included a performance by GMCLA's own NPYNK performing a Show Business/Hollywood medley ('There's no Business Like Show Business' & 'Hooray for Hollywood') and 'Tonight' from West Side Story.
