Perhaps best remembered as Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, Scottish character actor Alastair Sim became a leading star of British cinema after spending five years as a lecturer of elocution at the University of Edinburgh. One of the best-loved and most prolific actors in classic British comedy, Sim, who often appeared in multiple roles, starred in more than fifty films beginning in 1935 and was both critically acclaimed and unfailingly popular, regularly topping the cinema-goers popularity polls. Co-founder and artistic director of Bay Street Theatre Sybil Christopher passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013, according to an announcement by the theatre's website. She was 83. Christopher served as artistic director at Bay Street for nearly 22 years until 2012, when she stepped down.

Mother of Invention, under the Artistic Direction of Gina Stahlnecker has announced that Austin Pendleton will direct it's production of LOOK HOMEWARD, ANGEL, Ketti Frings' acclaimed 1957 play based on Thomas Wolfe's first and largely autobiographical novel, March 13 - 24 at Abingdon Theatre Company's Strelsin Theatre (312 West 36th St.). The official opening will be on March 16th at 8PM.

MoMA Announces Roman Polanski Retrospective and Fall Film Exhibitions Schedule
The Museum of Modern Art recognizes the achievements of Roman Polanski with a complete retrospective of the filmmaker's works, September 7-30, 2011, in The Roy and Niuta Titus Theaters. Over the course of a half century, Polanski has become widely recognized as one of the premier international filmmakers, directing films in Poland, England, the U.S., Italy, and France and working with distinguished actors such as Jack Nicholson, Adrien Brody, Catherine Deneuve, Mia Farrow, Ben Kingsley, and Nastassja Kinski.
