Semifinalists For The James Toland Vocal Arts Competition Revealed
James Toland Vocal Arts, Inc. announced today the semifinalists for its prestigious JTVA Vocal Competition. As a not-for-profit corporation, JTVA supports gifted, emerging singers by providing exposure to expert judging, master classes, performance opportunities before live audiences, and monetary awards.
ART/WNY Presents Two Night Staged Reading
As summer decides on whether to stick around or not, American Repertory Theater of WNY will come out of the company's season hiatus with one of the first events of the 2017-18 season. August will feature a two-evening stage reading of Mark Humphrey's AN INQUIRY INTO THE FATE OF THE U.S.S. PEQUOD at the company's 330 Amherst location. The reading will feature Buffalo actor Stan Klimecko and the return on Jack Hunter as he will share his directorial eye with the project. .
ART/WNY's A HATFUL OF RAIN Now Playing Through 3/29
American Repertory Theater of WNY continues an outstanding 2013-14 season with the production of Michael Gazzo's compelling story of Hope, Dope and Love entitled A HATFUL OF RAIN. This story of a military veteran struggles with morphine addiction and the fallout effects on his loved ones currently runs now to March 29th, Thursday-Saturday performances at 7:30 pm.

Starting out as a Broadway playwright and writing for film (including the screenplay for Elvis Presley's KING CREOLE),Gazzo was an instrumental figure in the Actors Studio and went on to film and TV acting until his death in 1995.

HATFUL OF RAIN and SHINE Set for ART/WNY's 2013-14 'Second Half'
With two acclaimed shows of the 2013-14 season in the books, American Repertory Theater of WNY sets sights on the 'Second Half' of the season. All presentations will be held at ART/WNY's new performance space, ART in the Box, located at 16 Linwood Avenue, Buffalo NY, in the Church of the Ascension.

The second production of the 2013-14 season presented by American Repertory of WNY is a story of the legendary bluesman Robert Johnson entitled LITTLE ROBERT, written by prolific and award winning local playwright Mark Humphrey (author of the acclaimed MR. BENNY and the one-act presented through ART/WNY's One Act showcase, MECHANICS).. Directed by Gail Golden (fresh from directing last season's uproarious MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS) features the talents of award winning actor Hugh Davis and Robert Ernie Insana. The show, originally set to close on Nov. 23, will play an additional performance on Nov. 29 at 7:30 pm.
