Black Maria Film Festival Announces Opening Weekend In Princeton

The Thomas Edison Black Maria Film Festival will kick off its 39th annual season with two special screening events on consecutive evenings before launching its international tour. On Friday night, February 7, filmmakers Su Friedrich, Edith Goldenhar, Emily Hubley, and Lynne Sachs will screen and discuss their work and participate in an audience Q&A with Festival Director Jane Steuerwald in an evening of 'Women in Film.' Saturday night, February 8 will be the Festival's 2020 premiere with a screening of five top prize-winning films with filmmaker/photographer/author Eugene Richards, winner of the Festival's Stellar Award for Documentary, present to discuss his work and participate in an audience Q&A with Steuerwald.
Black Maria Film Festival Returns To Princeton NJ On April 5

The Black Maria Film Festival returns to Princeton University's Lewis Center for the Arts with a screening of five more films from the 2019 tour on Friday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the James Stewart Film Theater at 185 Nassau Street. The short documentary, experimental, narrative, and animated films, introduced by Festival Director Jane Steuerwald, focus on the human experience and issues of global importance and are by filmmakers from Germany, the U.S., the United Kingdom, Mexico, and Greece. The event is free and open to the public; no tickets are required. Free parking is available in University Lot #10 off William Street, behind 185 Nassau.

ENSEMBLE THEATRE COMPANY (in a co-production with the ENGLISH THEATRE FRANKFURT) is thrilled to announce the fourth show of its 2017-2018 Season, a witty and provocative new thriller, THE INVISIBLE HAND, written by Ayad Akhtar (Disgraced) and directed by Jonathan Fox. THE INVISIBLE HAND begins previews on Thursday, April 12, opens on Saturday, April 14, and runs through Sunday, April 29, 2018 at The New Vic, 33 W. Victoria Street in Santa Barbara. The production will then transfer to the English Theatre Frankfurt on May 9, 2018.

The Black Maria Film + Video Festival The Black Maria Film Festival, now in its 37th year, features some of the best short films and videos being made today. Programs are custom curated for each site, featuring a rich international selection of narrative, documentary, animation and experimental works. Festival representatives are on hand to provide perspective and a post-viewing discussion.
