Theatreworks USA Performs SKIPPYJON JONES SNOW WHAT
A brand new, family-friendly musical comes to the stage at Upper Darby Performing Arts Center on November 4 at 7:30 pm. The one-hour musical, Skippyjon Jones Snow What, is based on the book by Delaware County resident and NY Times bestselling author, Judith Schachner. The delightful show is performed by the professional and distinguished touring company, Theatreworks USA, and features the Siamese cat who thinks he's a Chihuahua made famous in the book series.
Tina Fey to Return to UD Summer Stage this Month
Tina Fey returns to Upper Darby Summer Stage on August 16! Before there was 'Second City,' 'Saturday Night Live,' 'Mean Girls' and '30 Rock,' there was Upper Darby Summer Stage where Tina Fey acted and directed. Upper Darby Summer Stage is one of the nation's longest running and most successful Children's Theater programs and a valuable community asset. Summer Stage was recently named one of the eight best-known summer theater programs for young performers in the nation by Backstage.com.
FORBIDDEN BROADWAY's Marcus Stevens Visits Upper Darby Summer Stage
Marcus Stevens, presently starring in "Forbidden Broadway: Comes Out Swinging," made a special appearance in Drexel Hill, PA yesterday to meet the cast and enjoy his musical, "Elliot and the Magic Bed." Stevens wrote the book and lyrics for "Elliot" and Brian Lowdermilk, one half of the successful singer-songwriting duo, Kerrigan-Lowdermilk, composed the music and wrote the lyrics with Stevens. The musical was originally commissioned for Upper Darby Summer Stage in 2003.
Upper Darby Summer Stage to Launch 38th Season Next Week
Upper Darby Summer Stage, one of the country's most successful youth theater programs and a Philadelphia-area summer tradition, opens its 38 season July 10. Since 1976, the Delaware County institution has nurtured young people, encouraging them to learn more than theater skills, but life-long skills to embrace their responsibility in the community.
2011 Barrymore Awards Honors Terrence McNally, Arden Theatre et al.; Recipients Announced
Surprise and gratitude ruled the 17th Barrymore Awards on Monday, October 3 at the Walnut Street Theatre. Presented by the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia, the black-tie ceremony, directed by Jay Wahl and hosted by 6ABC's Rick Williams, celebrated the work of local theatre artists as well as the vibrancy of the region's theatrical offerings with 27 awards.

Mayor Michael Nutter Announces Philly Orchestra's 2010 FREE Neighborhood Concerts
After wowing international audiences as part of its recent Tour of Asia, The Philadelphia Orchestra returned home to reaffirm its commitment to Philadelphia with the announcement of the 2010 Free Neighborhood Concert Series. Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter joined the Orchestra at a special press conference today to unveil the locations of this summer's three free community performances-Upper Darby Performing Arts Center (Friday, June 18, 7:30 PM), the RiverStage at Penn's Landing (Saturday, July 3, 8:00 PM), and Philadelphia's City Hall (Tuesday, September 21, 7:00 PM).
