Fuson, Jr. welcomed the Board of Directors and guests and announced the newly elected Board and Executive Committee members, including his successor as Board Chair, Elaine Bennett Darwin. Managing Director Michael G. Murphy gave an update on the Globe's financial position and presented highlights of the 2013 fiscal year, and Artistic Director Barry Edelstein spoke about the artistic future of the Globe and its place in the San Diego community. Barry Edelstein Appointed Artistic Director of The Old Globe
The Board of Directors of The Old Globe today announced the appointment of Barry Edelstein as Artistic Director. A nationally-recognized director, producer, author and educator, Edelstein will work together with Managing Director Michael G. Murphy to lead San Diego's flagship arts institution. Both Edelstein and Murphy will report jointly to the Board of Directors. Currently the Director of The Public Theater's Shakespeare Initiative in New York City, Edelstein will assume the artistic directorship of The Old Globe on Nov. 1 and will reside full-time in San Diego in January 2013.

The Old Globe's Board of Directors today named Michael G. Murphy as Managing Director. Murphy was appointed Interim Managing Director in October 2011 after the resignation of CEO/Executive Producer Louis G. Spisto, who oversaw both the artistic and administrative operations of the theatre.

CEO/Executive Producer Lou Spisto to Depart The Old Globe
Today, The Old Globe and CEO/Executive Producer Lou Spisto announced that Mr. Spisto is leaving The Old Globe to work independently as a producer. Mr. Spisto was appointed Executive Director in October of 2002 and assumed the position of Executive Producer in January of 2008.
