Vanguard University's Department Of Theatre Arts Presents XANADU
Vanguard University's highly acclaimed and award-winning department of theatre arts presents the stage adaptation of the 1980s rollicking, roller skating musical Xanadu. Review: THIS IS HALLOWEEN at The Can Can
The Can Can, Seattle’s fabulous burlesque house, celebrates the 15th anniversary of their collaboration with The Triple Door by bringing back their ode to Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” with their tantalizing “This Is Halloween”. And while this naughty nightmare has much of what you’d want from a Can Can show, one aspect continued to be quite frustrating, at least for me. Clarity.
BWW Review: With THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS at the Triple Door, More is Just More
Lily Verlaine and Jasper McCann return to the Triple Door for their 11th season with their adaptation of Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland", "Through the Looking Glass, The Burlesque Alice in Wonderland". And while "Wonderland" might seem a perfect setting for a Burlesque show, since the whole thing can be looked at as a giant drug trip, any adaptation should use more than just the characters and name as a backdrop. Unfortunately, that's not the case here as the evening is simply a series of numbers, strung together with the loosest of Wonderland threads holding it together, and so much thrown at the audience in order to obscure the downfalls of the show that it really only serves to spotlight the downfalls.
Asolo Rep Announces Complete Casting For Jeff Calhoun-Helmed Production Of THE MUSIC MAN
Asolo Rep proudly kicks off its 60th season with a highly imaginative production of Meredith Willson's Tony Award-winning exuberant masterpiece THE MUSIC MAN. Directed by Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun (Newsies), this tap dancing-infused production stars legendary Broadway song and dance man Noah Racey as Harold Hill. Calhoun and Racey previously collaborated on the smash hit world premiere of Noah Racey's Pulse at Asolo Rep in 2013. The perfect family holiday outing, THE MUSIC MAN begins previews on November 13, opens November 17 and runs through December 29 in the Mertz Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts.

Out of the Seattle dance scene emerges House of Verlaine's retelling of the romantic ballet, Giselle, a production brought to life by Lily Verlaine's exquisite assemblage of daring classical artists. House of Verlaine's retelling resets the classic ballet on an award-winning haunted house set designed by Julia Welch (Gregory Award-winner), and features performances from a company comprised of top tier professional, local dance talent including Lara Seefeldt and Davione Gordon amongst others.

Chris Kevorkian, President of Cornish College of the Arts, announced the recipients of the third annual Arts Incubator Residency hosted at the Cornish Playhouse. The Cornish Playhouse Arts Incubator Residency encourages artistic risk-taking by providing free space to artists as they seek to complete a work that is outside the boundaries of their usual genre, discipline, or comfort zone. This year's recipients are recent Cornish graduate JuJu Kusanagi as well as local artists Angelina Baldoz and KT Shores, Ilvs Strauss, and Nico Tower.

Photo Flash: CATS Celebrates Opening at La Mirada Theatre
La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts and McCoy Rigby Entertainment present the fourth production in its 2013-1014 season of shows with one of the most popular musical events of all-time, the Tony award-winning, CATS, music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on 'Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats' by T.S. Eliot, with musical direction by John Glaudini and directed and choreographed by Dana Solimando. CATS will feature Kelly Provart as Grizabella and Todrick Hall (whose hilarious YOUTUBE video parodies have been seen by millions of viewers) as Rum Tum Tugger.
