Shakespeare in the Parking Lot will present 'Romeo and Juliet,' directed by Lukas Raphael, September 21, 2019 at 4:00pm as part of the 2019 Michael Chekhov Festival in Ridgefield. This is the 11th year of the festival and the fourth year New York's The Drilling Company has joined with The Michael Chekhov Theatre Festival to bring FREE Shakespeare to Ballard Park. The Drilling Company's Shakespeare production, a popular New York summer institution, is now in its 15th year. Its concept a?' presenting Shakespeare plays with a 'poor theater' aesthetic in a working parking lot a?' is now widely imitated around the US and around the world, with productions as far away as New Zealand. The Drilling Company, led by Artistic Director Hamilton Clancy, has produced the attraction since 2005.
The Drilling Company's OTHELLO Comes to Bryant Park
Bryant Park assumes the guise of wartime Venice as New York's famed theater company, The Drilling Company (TDC) of Shakespeare in the Parking Lot, present their rendition of Shakespeare's immortal drama Othello at Bryant Park's Picnic Performance series. All shows are open to the public and take place outdoors on the Bryant Park stage, rain or shine. Blankets are available for rent free of charge and picnicking on the green is encouraged.

HAMLET: PRINCESS OF DENMARK Comes to Bryant Park With The Drilling Company
Bryant Park welcomes back one of New York's most beloved theater companies, The Drilling Company (TDC) - renowned for their Shakespeare in the Parking Lot series - for their sixth annual season in the park. In May, The Drilling Company's Producing Artistic Director Hamilton Clancy will open the Bryant Park Picnic Performances with Hamlet: Princess of Denmark, the company's uniquely gender-shifted twist on the legendary play, starring Jane Bradley as Hamlet and a cast that includes Ayo Onek Cummings, P tra Denison, Bob Acaro, Veronica Cruz, Bill Green, Rachel Collins, John Caliendo, Dan Teachout, Liz Livingston, Gracie Winchester, Colleen Cosgrove, Kendra Oberhauser, and Elowyn Castle, with direction from Karla Hendrick.
