Tony Winner Daisy Eagan Returns to THE SECRET GARDEN in D.C. Tonight
25 years after the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical production of Frances Hodgson Burnett's classic children's story The Secret Garden, the Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) and the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle will co-present the timeless tale from tonight, November 15, through December 31 at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW).
Tony Winner Daisy Eagan to Return to THE SECRET GARDEN at D.C.'s Shakespeare Theatre Company
25 years after the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical production of Frances Hodgson Burnett's classic children's story The Secret Garden, the Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) and the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle will co-present the timeless tale from November 15-December 31 at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW). The musical is directed by David Armstrong, Artistic Director at The 5th Avenue Theatre, with whom STC is co-producing the production.
Helen Mirren to Attend Shakespeare Theatre Company's 2015 Gala Honoring Julie Taymor
At its 2015 Harman Center for the Arts Gala, the Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) will present renowned theatre, film and opera director Julie Taymor with the 2015 William Shakespeare Award for Classical Theatre (Will Award), which recognizes artists who have made significant contributions to classical theatre in America. JM Zell Partners, Ltd. will receive the Sidney Harman Award for Philanthropy in the Arts. Dame Helen Mirren (Academy Award winner and star of Taymor's film The Tempest) will be a special guest at the black-tie event, themed "Imagine: Shakespeare."

STC Associate Artistic Director Alan Paul, director of last season's smash hit Man of La Mancha-the best-selling production in the Company's history-and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Director, Resident Musical) helms Kiss Me, Kate, with choreography by Michele Lynch (Washington National Opera's Show Boat).
James Lapine to Receive Signature Theatre's 2015 Stephen Sondheim Award
On March 30, 2015, Virginia's Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre will honor the multiple Tony Award-winning Broadway playwright and director James Lapine with the company's sixth Stephen Sondheim Award. The award, established in 2009 in honor of America's most influential musical theatre writer and composer, will be presented at a black-tie Gala Benefit at the Embassy of Italy. The Sondheim Award Gala will benefit Signature Theatre's artistic, education, and community programs.

The Kennedy Center presents Children of Eden in Concert on Monday, May 19 at 8 p.m. in the Eisenhower Theater. Featuring music and lyrics by Oscar® and Grammy Award® winner Stephen Schwartz and book by John Caird, the semi-staged performance is directed and choreographed by Tony® nominee Marcia Milgrom Dodge. The all-star Broadway cast includes Ron Bohmer, Ashley Brown, Rebecca Naomi Jones, and Jeremy Jordan and will be accompanied by the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra. This one-time-only event is made possible by the HRH Foundation. Tickets go on sale to the general public on March 28.
