DTC Announces Recipients of Project Discovery Distinguished Educators of the Year
Dallas Theater Center announced today the two recipients of the 2013-2014 Project Discovery Distinguished Educator of the Year Award. Shawn Brentham from Irving High School and Catherine Hopkins from W. H. Adamson High School are the first ever co-recipients of the award. The educators have been involved with Project Discovery for five years and together have brought 2,500 students to 28 productions at DTC.
DTC Celebrates National Arts and Humanities Youth Program, 'Project Discovery'
Yesterday Dallas Theater Center hosted a celebration in honor of Project Discovery's recent recognition by The President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. DTC invited 200 current Project Discovery [PD] participants, teachers, past participants, teaching artists, board, staff and program donors to an hour-long event that featured stories from PD students and a full, experiential PD activity on the main stage of the Wyly Theatre.
Randall L. Jones Theatre Celebrates 25th Anniversary
The Randall L. Jones Theatre, known for its stunning architecture, celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary this year. Completed in 1989, the building has become one of the symbols of the Utah Shakespeare Festival, having housed over 100 various musicals, classic dramas and hilarious comedies. As a special event this season in the Randall Theatre, an actor to audience talkback will follow each showing of Twelve Angry Men, beginning on Monday, July 1 replacing the intermission.

Obama Awards Angelou, Ma, et al. with Medals of Freedom
Today, President Barack Obama named fifteen recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The Medal of Freedom is the Nation's highest civilian honor, presented to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors. The awards will be presented at a White House ceremony early next year.
