Gwendolyn Schwinke is Resident Vocal Coach at PlayMakers Repertory Company in North Carolina and the David G Frey Fellow/Assistant Professor of Voice and Speech in Professional Actors Training Program at UNC-Chapel Hill. She is also a Company Member at Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA, where she serves as Voice, Text and Dialect Coach and Training Faculty. Additionally, her work as a voice, text or dialect coach has been heard at Oxford Shakespeare Festival, Frank Theatre, Cheap Theatre, Atlantic Stage and in multiple university productions.
Gwendolyn has worked in professional theatre for over 20 years and is a member of Actors Equity. As an actor, she has performed with theatres including Red Eye Collaboration, Carlyle Brown & Company, Frank Theatre, The Playwrights Center, Old Creamery Theatre, Oxford Shakespeare Festival, Pulse Ensemble Theatre and Atlantic Stage. She has directed professionally for venues including Atlantic Stage, The Playwrights Center, and The Walker Art Center. Her work as a playwright has been produced or developed by Red Eye Collaboration, The Seattle Repertory Company and off-Broadway’s Cherry Lane Theatre among many others. Gwendolyn is a Designated Linklater Voice Teacher, Certified Teacher of Colaianni Speech and Accent work and a Certified Feldenkrais Teacher. She holds an MFA in Acting from Illinois State University.
