Gregory Fletcher is a graduate of California State University at Northridge with a BA in Theater, of Boston University with a MA in Playwriting, and of Columbia University with an MFA in Directing. He works as a freelance AEA stage-manager, playwright, author, and director.
As a stage manager, he has worked on over a dozen Off-Broadway productions, a half-dozen regional theater productions, and the national tour of Edward Albee's Three Tall Women. As a director, he's directed over a dozen Off-Off-Broadway productions, plus several university productions. As a playwright, Fletcher has had a dozen Off-Off Broadway productions, including Edenville, My Sister the Cow, Eight Times Around, Family of Flechner, Hangman, Mapplethorpe's Flowers, The Moon Alone, Roast Beef and the Rare Kiss, and Stairway to Heaven. Regionally, his plays have been produced in Boston, Miami, Moscow (Idaho), and Provincetown.
As the author of a YA novel, four essays, two short stories, three interviews, and a craft book, Fletcher's publishing credits include Back Stage Books, Diverse Voices Quarterly, Dramatic Publishing, Jerome Robbins Foundation, Longridge Review, Northampton House Press, San Fedele Press, Smith & Kraus, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Gender Program, Wilde Magazine, and Zoetic Press.
Awards include the Mark Twain Prize for Comic Playwriting and the National Ten-Minute Play Award from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, and a first runner up for the David Mark Cohen National Playwriting Award from the Association of Theatre in Higher Education. He was a playwriting grantee at the Sundance Theatre Lab, a nominee for Outstanding Original Short Script for the New York IT Awards, and a national finalist for the Heideman Award and the Reva Shiner Comedy Award.
He has taught various theater courses at the MA/MFA Maslow Family Creative Writing Program at Wilkes University, as well as undergraduate theater programs at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, Niagara University, and at CUNY-Kingsborough.
