The Dessoff Choirs to Present Works by Gregg Smith and John Rutter
The 50-member Dessoff Choirs continues its 95th season with a program dedicated to two of choral music's most influential composers, Britain's John Rutter and American Gregg Smith. Accompanied by pianist Steven Ryan, Dessoff performs two unforgettable choral gems: Rutter's The Sprig of Thyme, a collection of charming British folk songs for chorus, and Smith's The Continental Harmonist along with spirituals by Florence Price and Margaret Bonds sung by Dessoff's maestro, Malcolm J. Merriweather.

Rich in spiritual trills and sacred thrills, Music of the Spirit, the 2018 free concert features GWYNETH WALKER's Songs of Faith - which was commissioned by OGCMA and hasn't been performed here since its 2013 debut - and JOHN RUTTER's splendid Gloria. Jason C. Tramm will conduct The Great Auditorium Choir and guest soloists Monica Ziglar, Katherine Pracht, Ronald Naldi and Justin Beck, accompanied by the MidAtlantic Brass Ensemble and organist Gordon Turk. The Texas State Men & Boys Choir Releases Follow Up To Top 40 Record
In 2016, The Texas State Men's Choir, founded in January of 2015, released its debut record titled 'Prayers, Poems & Promises' which reached #39 on iTunes classical charts in April. With the choir's new treble addition and now renamed The Texas State Men & Boys Choir, they teamed up with The Dorothy Shaw Bell Choir to offer a new Christmas album titled 'Following The Star; Traditional Carols.'
