Jennie T. Anderson Theatre Concludes Overture Series With THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA
Cobb PARKS' Jennie T. Anderson Theatre is wrapping up its award-winning series with the Italian love story, THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA. While it's not considered a holiday show, its themes of family and love are universal and it will provide a heartwarming experience for the whole family. This musical consists of 20 actors and 14 musicians.

I And You is the final play in Wharton Center's Illuminate Series that runs this weekend, Friday and Sunday, for two performances only and the limited-engagement of Lauren Gunderson's play is sure to leave audiences wanting more. One afternoon, Anthony (Greg Hunter) arrives unexpectedly at classmate Caroline's (Tess Galbiati) door bearing a beat-up copy of Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass, with an urgent assignment from their English teacher. Homebound, Caroline hasn't been to school in months, but she is as quick and funny as Anthony is athletic, sensitive, and popular. As these two let down their guards and share their secrets, this poetry project unlocks the deep mystery that has brought them together. I And You is a funny and touching ode to youth, life, love, and the strange beauty of human connectedness with an eye-popping, heart-pounding, and totally unexpected ending. The musical, based on Cedella's children's book, Three Little Birds, includes the songs "Three Little Birds," "Jamming," "Roots Rock Reggae," "I Shot the Sheriff," "Is This Love," and others, and is recommended for children ages three and up. Putnam Street in downtown Williamston, is collaborating with the MSU Department of Theatre on their upcoming production, The Nerd by Larry Shue. Performances begin Thursday, November 17 and run through Sunday, December 18. Tickets are now on sale.

Alan Kilpatrick directs, Nick Silvestri is the music director, and Jen MacQueen choreographs. The show opens on Friday, July 15, and runs through Sunday, August 7. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8pm (except, no performance on Thursday, July 21), and Sundays at 2:30pm.
