Usher in the season with the holiday hit It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play at Hartford Stage, starting performances November 25. In this stage adaptation directed by Zoë Golub-Sass, Connecticut playwright Joe Landry has refashioned the 1946 Jimmy Stewart movie into a play reminiscent of the Golden Age of Radio.Originally co-directed by Melia Bensussen and Rachel Alderman, the staging, complete with a Foley sound effects artists and period commercials, is certain to charm and entertain.

This September 26-October 6, the Cherry kicks off our production season with The Shoe by Québec playwright David Paquet. Paquet is a recipient of the Governor General's Award for Drama and the Prix Michel Tremblay, and The Shoe is his newest play, to be seen for the first time in English at the Cherry. The Shoe uses inventive magical realism to tell the funny and profound story of an unusual young boy named Benoit and the adults who care for him. The French world première won the Best Play and Playwright awards in Vancouver. Press there said the play, like Benoit himself, is 'a Kinder Surprise: you come for the comedy, but stay for the lucid observations.'
Celebrated Arts Orgs to Collaborate on FOUR PLAYS - 100 YEARS: A Celebration of Women's Suffrage
To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of New York State signing of woman's suffrage into law, three years before the US passed the 19th Amendment, Hangar Theatre, Kitchen Theatre Company, Civic Ensemble and Cherry Arts are collaborating on a two-night theater event: Four Plays - 100 Years. Performances will be at Kitchen Theatre Company on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 16 and 17 at 7:30pm.
The Cherry Arts' 'TIMEDIVE' Begins This Month
The Cherry Arts, a new not-for-profit theatre company based in Ithaca and Brooklyn NY, will produce in September the new play A Cherry Timedive, currently in rehearsal. Written by four exceptional writers based in Ithaca, NY, Timedive is a lyrical and mysterious plunge into the histories of one storied corner of that town. The cast of A Cherry Timedive is Carolyn Goelzer, Jennifer Herzog, Godfrey Simmons, and Seth Soulstein. Dramaturgy is by performance scholar Nick Salvato, and the piece is conceived and directed by the company's Artistic Director, Samuel Buggeln.
