BWW Review: Todd Murray & Sean Harkness Deliver a Swoony (and Croony) Valentine's Day Show at the Metropolitan Room
When vocalist Todd Murray discovered several of the musicians for his excellent show Croon were unavailable for their scheduled Valentine's Day appearance last Sunday afternoon at the Metropolitan Room, he asked Sean Harkness (the guitarist in the show) to join him for a two-hander. The fortuitous accident yielded a terrific presentation of romantic material from sentimental to ardent, a pared down sharing of unadulterated heart and high musical craft that deserves wider audience. “It's our goal to put you in the mood,” Murray tells us. They do.
Nick Ziobro to Debut New CD at Birdland, 5/22
Nick Ziobro, the 17 year-old pop/jazz vocal sensation, will release his debut album A Lot of Livin' to Do on Tuesday, May 20. The new disc, produced by Michael Feinstein - the two-time Emmy and five-time Grammy Award-nominated vocalist, pianist and musicologist - and available through Titanium Entertainment, will be available in stores and digital outlets such as iTunes and Amazon.com. The album's debut single 'This Guy's In Love with You' is now available on iTunes.
Guggenheim Museum Announces Extended Hours for Picasso Black and White
On the occasion of the fall exhibition Picasso Black and White, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum will remain open for over two additional hours on select evenings for the full fifteen weeks of the exhibition, which is on view from October 5, 2012, through January 23, 2013. The extended hours will be offered on Sundays and Mondays, with the exception of holidays on December 24 and 31, from 10 am until 8 pm. During the late evenings, the museum store will be open until 8:30 pm, and both Cafe 3 and the Wright restaurant, serving a full bar and snack menu, will be open until 7 pm.

The Jewish Museum presents acclaimed photographer Gay Block in conversation with literary and cultural critic Daphne Merkin tonight, April 26 at 6:30 pm. Block will discuss About Love, which considers for the first time more than 30 years of her intimate and moving portraits. Organized chronologically and published in an oversize format designed to evoke the idea of a family album, About Love is the first survey of Block's work. The book provides a thorough overview of her approach to portraiture.

As BroadwayWorld has previously reported, the life of legendary Broadway composer Jerry Bock will be celebrated Monday January 24th at Roundabout's American Airlines Theater (227 West 42nd Street) at 2:30pm. The celebration is open to the public, on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors will open at 2pm.

Ticktin, Rachel Ulanet, Tony Walton, Sherman Yellen and Bock's daughter Portia, among others. Michael Montel will stage the event.
