From June 22 through September 9, 2018, the Art Institute of Chicago presents an exhibition on renowned design company Georg Jensen and its contributions to changing ideals for modern living across the 20th century. Known for its singular approach to materials and craftsmanship, Georg Jensen silver tableware and objects for the home kept pace with the era's shifting culture and lifestyles, balancing design and function in its diverse product lines. With its dual embrace of exceptional and everyday objects, the firm appealed to a wide range of customers and contributed to the meteoric rise of Scandinavian design in the United States and around the world. Presenting over 100 spectacular and rare works in silver, this exhibition celebrates the company's evolving vision for the modern home, which came to include inventive and accessible designs for flatware and serving dishes in stainless steel, wood, and melamine.

From April 28 to September 27, 2015, the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) presents Pathmakers: Women in Art, Craft and Design, Midcentury and Today, an exhibition thatconsiders the notable contributions of women to modernism in postwar visual culture. In the 1950s and '60s, an era when painting, sculpture and architecture were dominated by men, women had extensive impact in alternative materials such as textiles, ceramics and metals. Largely unexamined in major art historical surveys, due to either their gender or their choice of materials, these pioneering women achieved success and international recognition, establishing a model of professional identity for future generations. Americana & Antiques @ the Pier, January 22-23 on Pier 92 is being termed 'The freshest show of Antiques Week' by Stella Show Management Company's director Jeanne Stella. This event offers the youngest and newest dealers in antiques selling the newest, innovative and trendy styles in decorating and collecting. The Pier show is a smidge less polished than other shows in New York for Antiques Week but it makes up for that with spectacular buys that are ripe for picking. Many of the 200 dealers will have industrial furniture and design - considered by many the new Americana. Also included this January is a special section of antiquarian, art and collectible books - Book Alley.
