YBCA Presents Holcombe Waller's 'Requiem Mass: A Queer Divine Rite'

In collaboration with Ghiberti Foundation at Grace Cathedral, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) is pleased to present Requiem Mass: A Queer Divine Rite, a monumental choral work organized by renowned singer-composer Holcombe Waller. Making its San Francisco debut, Requiem Mass honors and invokes the peaceful repose of those who have suffered persecution due to their sexual orientation or gender expression.

Connecticut has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to established actors who have homes here, so it means that much more to Connecticut theatre lovers when one of their own residents works his way through any of its many community theatres and then gets to Broadway. One such actor is Michael Barra, a native of Durham. He is featured in the critically acclaimed musical, A Bronx Tale, now playing at the Longacre Theatre co-directed by Robert De Niro and Jerry Zaks.

Ten playwrights have won the New York Community Trust Helen Merrill Playwright Awards, honoring established and emerging writers for the theater. The winners are currently producing work on topics ranging from basement dwelling families in the middle of the 21st century to the 19th century all-black community that faced destruction in order to create Central Park.
Bushwick Starr and Studio 42 to Present IMPORTANT HATS OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY in 2015

The Bushwick Starr and Studio 42 will present the world premiere production of Important Hats of the Twentieth Century by Nick Jones (Emmy-nominated for Orange is the New Black, Trevor), directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel (Hand to God, Trevor).The production will run from October 7th through 31st, 2015, at The Bushwick Starr. The cast and full creative team will be announced in the spring of 2015.

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the third annual Roundabout Underground Reading Series. The series will celebrate seven critically-acclaimed seasons of Roundabout Underground productions.
