Review: MRS. DOUBTFIRE, Shaftesbury Theatre
Creating a stage musical of Mrs. Doubtfire, a much beloved 90’s film with an even more beloved Robin Williams at its helm, could in theory be disastrous. Happily, my inner child is thrilled to report that Kevin McCollum and Jamie Wilson’s adaptation is not only a sensitive homage to the original, but delivers compelling performances and a modern twist that combine to create a nostalgic, relatable…and hilarious piece of theatre.
MRS. DOUBTFIRE Extends In The West End Until June 2024
Due to popular demand, the new hit family stage musical of Mrs. Doubtfire, which opened this week to critical acclaim at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London, has extended bookings until June 2024, with a new weekly schedule including Sunday performances from January 2024, and over 13,000 new seats put on sale at £30 or under.

New comedy musical Mrs. Doubtfire, based on the iconic movie, will open in the West End next Summer. The production will begin performances at the newly refurbished Shaftesbury Theatre from Friday 12 May 2023, with a Press Night on Thursday 22 June. Mrs. Doubtfire will introduce Gabriel Vick (Avenue Q) as Daniel Hillard.

The off-beat comedy is from Tony Award-winners James Lapine (Into The Woods, Sunday In The Park With George) and William Finn (Falsettos, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) and stars Lucy O'Byrne as Sheryl, matriarch of the eccentric Hoover family. Mark Moraghan plays Grandpa, the role that won Alan Arkin an Academy award (Best Supporting Actor, 2007).
