BIO

Fredrick Redd is a multi-talented singer, actor, and industry professional. He has performed in the US and internationally receiving glowing reviews in London’s Opera Now, Opera News, and the New York Times. Notable performances include the title role in Emperor Jones (Off-Broadway), Porgy & Bess and Stonewall (Lincoln Center-New York City Opera), and soloist in Carmina Burana (Carnegie Hall main stage). Fredrick is currently engaged as Dom Claude Frollo in a new Equity Off-Broadway production of the Hunchback of Notre Dame. This fall he is looking forward to perform excerpts as Rigoletto for the Metropolitan Opera Guild in their series on the Verdi Baritone.

Recent 2022 performances included three returns to Carnegie Hall’s main stage as soloist in works of Haydn, Mozart, Martini and Stroope, his debut with the NJ Symphony in Nat Turner, Wotan in Das Rheingold and 2 Indie films.

Fred is a member of AGMA, Actor’s Equity and is SAG/AFTRA eligible. In Fredrick’s formative years, he studied trombone, piano and took additional studies at the Julliard School and in Italy at the Accademia Chigiana and the Spoleto Vocal Institute. Fredrick has also taught vocal master classes at Brown University and Salem College in North Carolina.

Constantly on the go, Fred’s engineering and MBA degrees make him a regular consultant on national projects. He is active Board Member for the William Warfield Scholarship Fund and the Creative Stage Collective. Lastly, he is an avid athlete becoming a 2-time Ironman and 4-time marathon finisher.

The New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera's Artistic Director, opera luminary Lucine Amara, announces the cast performing its debut of Giacomo Puccini's last opera, Turandot. Verismo Opera, the Bergen Performing Arts Center's (bergenPAC) house opera company, presents this dramatic opera set in ancient China on Sunday, April 22, 2018. The performance begins at 3:00 p.m. at the theatre, located at 30 North Van Brunt Street, in Englewood, New Jersey. Previously, Verismo Opera performed act three in concerts in 1997 and in 2009.

Belize-born and London-based composer, singer-songwriter, and pianist Errollyn Wallen takes the stage at Symphony Space on Friday, February 21 (7:30 pm) for an evening of her genre-defying music. The program includes two world premieres and five US premieres, heard in performances by Wallen, the Hartt Quartet, the Miller-Porfiris Duo, baritone Fredrick Redd, and writer David Grand. The concert takes place at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia as part of The Music of Now Series, which runs through the end of March. Tickets are $32, $27 for members, and $20 for those under 30, available at www.symphonyspace.org.
