Anika Larsen & Freddie Will Perform In Key West At A Celebration Of Independence

Larsen and Maxwell are Distinguished Artists in Residence at The Studios, one of the premiere multidisciplinary arts & culture organizations in South Florida and the Florida Keys. They were invited by opera librettist & theater writer Stephen Kitsakos, Studios Artistic Associate & Executive Producer of the weekly livestream series Between Two Palms, to perform on The Studios new outdoor rooftop garden, Hugh's View.

Award winner Anika Larsen teams up with her husband and jazz trumpet player Freddie Maxwell for their Feinstein's/54 Below and New York City debut of MAKE YOU FEEL MY LOVE: The Musical Romance of a Jazz Cat and a Broadway Baby. Best known for her Tony nominated role as Cynthia Weil in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Anika also performed on Broadway in Avenue Q, Xanadu, All Shook Up and Rent. Freddie toured with luminaries such as Frank Sinatra and Alicia Keys. Recounting memorable moments in their careers, this show is the musical story of how their worlds came together. It's a jazzy, sexy spin on Broadway, pop and Latin tunes that were pivotal in their lives, featuring songs from Anika's album Sing You To Sleep.

Last week nearly 200 guests filled The Edison Ballroom to honor supporters of theater and arts education at New York City Children's Theater 2018 Gala on Tuesday, April 17th. Guests enjoyed cocktails, dinner and live performances by Tony award-nominated Anika Larsen (who also hosted the evening) with her talented husband Freddie Maxwell as accompaniment, iTheatrics ensemble (our youngest performers) and soloist Lizzette Cruz.

Thus, the evening was the perfect night cap to an otherwise manic Monday.
