Musco Center Presents The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra, 10/17
The 19-time Grammy-Awarded, 2018 Downbeat Readers Poll-winning Count Basie Orchestra will bring the most danceable swing of the Big Band era to Musco Center for the Arts on Thursday, October 17 at 7:30pm. New York Youth Symphony Announces Its 57th Season Of Concerts And Venues
New York Youth Symphony (NYYS), is proud to continue its mission of educating and inspiring young musicians through its Orchestra, Jazz, Chamber Music, Composition, Musical Theater Composition, Apprenticeship Conducting, and First Music commissioning programs. This season includes seven world premieres of new works commissioned through the First Music program, composed for the Orchestra, Jazz, and Chamber Music ensembles. The season also features renowned and up-and-coming soloists including prodigy pianist Harmony Zhu, 2019 Sphinx Competition winner cellist Sterling Elliott, and leading young pianist Michelle Cann in the Carnegie Hall premiere of Florence Price's recently re-discovered Piano Concerto in One Movement with NYYS Orchestra, as well as in-demand drummer Matt Wilson, celebrated saxophonist Steve Wilson, and trombone virtuoso Wycliffe Gordon with NYYS Jazz. The Kennedy Center announced today the roster of artists who will be participating in Jimmy Heath at 90, a concert honoring the 90th birthday of the legendary saxophonist, composer, educator, and bandleader. The celebration will take place on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. in the Concert Hall.
Maryland Ensemble Theatre's Fun Company to Present THE LITTLE PRINCE
Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) family theatre, The Fun Company, will present, 'The Little Prince'. Based on the book by Antoine de Saint-Exupery and adapted by Rick Cummins and John Scoullar, 'The Little Prince', is an imaginative story of an unlikely friendship between an aviator who lands in the Sahara Desert and a tiny prince who has fallen from the sky. The Prince tells tales of life and lessons learned among the stars. A show entertaining for the whole family, it will run at MET this February for ten performances over five weeks. 'It's a true ensemble piece that is full of enchantment and heart,' said Fun Company Artistic Director Julie Herber. 'This is going to be a special treat for families to share together and it's our hope that it will spark many thoughtful discussions.'

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET), Frederick's largest producing non-profit theater, launched a Capital Campaign in September of 2013 to raise funds for an additional performance venue and alterations to the existing facilities. On January 10, 2015 MET celebrated the completion of the Stage2: The Greene Space venue and numerous other capital improvements with a ribbon cutting ceremony, hours of free activities for families, and an evening of comedy and music. The Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) will present 'The Last Hurrah Saves Thanksgiving', a holiday special that is sure to prevent Thanksgiving from being overshadowed by Christmas. On Nov. 23rd at 7 p.m. the festivities will begin. All are welcome to attend as Thanksgiving is reinvented as an international holiday with a brand new mascot, Mumps The Dying Turkey. new traditions for food consumption will be presented, festive forms of high-fiving will be given, and we'll all greet one another with a hearty 'You're Welcome.'
