BBC to Run Extensive Shakespeare Season to Celebrate 400th Anniversary of First Folio

The BBC is celebrating this extraordinary anniversary with an ambitious season of content across TV, Radio, BBC iPlayer & BBC Sounds exploring why, 400 years on, Shakespeare's relevance and influence is as strong as ever. A wealth of programming featuring major actors and leading experts, including new documentaries, performance, music, drama, comedy, news coverage and the best of the BBC archive, as well as special items on flagship BBC shows, will celebrate the man, his world and his timeless writing.
Maggie Smith Receives Critics' Circle Award 2015 for Services to the Arts

Maggie Smith was presented with the Critics' Circle Award 2015 for Services to the Arts at a private lunch held at the National Liberal Club in London on March 31, receiving an engraved crystal rose bowl. The event hosted byJeffery Taylor, president of the Critics' Circle and Mark Shenton, chairman of the Drama section of the Critics' Circle.

The Old Globe's QUARTET Extends Through August 31

The Old Globe today announced additional performances for the third production of the 2014 Summer Season, Ronald Harwood's comedy Quartet, directed by Richard Seer (Other Desert Cities, God of Carnage, The Last Romance). Harwood received an Academy Award for his screenplay of The Pianist and was nominated for The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and The Dresser (also a hit on Broadway and the West End). By popular demand, it will now play through Sunday, August 31. Tickets for the extension will go on sale to the general public on Sunday, August 10 at 12:01 a.m.
