Acclaimed Jamaican Artist Showcases 'Double Exposure' Exhibit In Pompano Beach
The Historic Ali Cultural Arts in Pompano Beach presents Double Exposure, an expression of A. J. Brown's double life as both a visual artist and vocalist. The exhibit, free and open to the public, will be on view during regular business hours from April 25 through June 14, 2019. The free opening reception is Thursday, April 25, 6-8pm. Historic Ali Cultural Arts Celebrates African-American Music Appreciation Month
The Historic Ali Cultural Arts is proud to present an exhibition featuring the paintings of Haitian visual artist Jai D and the photographs of David I. Muir. In celebration of June being African-American music month, works on display will feature paintings of music icons including Prince, Diana Ross, Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G. and concert photographs of Toni Braxton, Common and Maxwell. The blind teen prodigy has been hailed by critics for his virtuoso style on the piano and the Hammond B3 organ. Whitaker was recently profiled on the Today Show and has been seen on a variety of TV programs including Ellen, CBS Sunday Morning and Good Morning Japan. Last year, he debuted his critically acclaimed first CD, Outta the Box, featuring a mix of original compositions and his take on the classics.

The anniversary of both Esther Rolle's birth and death are in November, and to celebrate the achievements of this amazing woman, who is also buried in Pompano Beach, The Rock Road Restoration Historical Group will present a special exhibit at The Historic Ali Cultural Arts Center (www.aliarts.org), which will run from November 1 through December 2, 2017.
