Felipe Gamba is Director of International Production Strategy for DISNEY THEATRICAL GROUP, a division of The Walt Disney Studios. In this position, he is responsible for the group’s global licensed partnerships that deliver its theater productions around the world and for developing strategy for international growth.
Born in Bogotá, Colombia, he started performing on stage and television at age 8, later forming his own theater company and serving as artistic director and producer. Felipe then moved to New York City in 1996 and graduated in Dramatic Writing from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
After five years working as a Creative Development executive for Sony Pictures Television in Mexico and Russia, where he led the local language adaptation of hit TV series “Ugly Betty” (Yo Soy Betty, La Fea), he returned to New York City and to his roots in live theatre.
In 2003, he founded a producing organization devoted to building international partnerships among theatre artists, producers and performing arts organizations around the world. Projects included: FAUST, co-produced by BAM’s Next Wave Festival in NYC and Mexico’s Festival Cervantino; BAIT, a collaborative festival at PS122 that brought together contemporary theatre artists from Argentina and the United States; and VIA, designed to provide opportunities for Latin American theatre artists to market their work internationally within the frame of Bogotá’s Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro, a multidisciplinary event for which Felipe served as Artistic Advisor 1996-2010.
Felipe is thrilled to be a member of the Disney Theatrical team since 2010.
