Royal & Derngate Announce Full Casting And Creative Team For The World Premiere Of THE POPE
Royal & Derngate Northampton has announced full cast and creative team for the venue's world premiere of The Pope. This new play from Anthony McCarten, the 2019 Golden Globe and BAFTA-winning, and 2019 Oscar nominated writer of Bohemian Rhapsody, The Theory Of Everything and Darkest Hour, will star Anton Lesser (Game Of Thrones, The Crown, Wolf Hall, Endeavour) as Pope Benedict and Nicholas Woodeson (Baptiste, The Danish Girl, Death of Stalin, Taboo) as Pope Francis and will feature original music composed by BRIT, Oscar and Grammy-winning composer Anne Dudley (Elle, American History X, The Full Monty, Poldark). Faith Alabi (Belleville, Donmar Warehouse; Hamlet, Talawa) and Lynsey Beauchamp (Britannia, Einstein) play the roles of Sister Sophia and Sister Brigitta respectively.
Directors And Cast Announced For Debut Plays At Edinburgh Fringe
BBC Arts and Avalon announce today the casting and directors for DEBUT - a unique new initiative enabling four professional creatives - Bim Adewunmi, Katherine Parkinson, Beryl Richards and Frank Skinner - who have never written for the stage before to create their debut play. All four plays will be directed by emerging directors giving a new generation of talent an opportunity to direct a play at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2018.

Artistic Director Christopher Haydon today announces the full cast for the European premiere of Danai Gurira's Eclipsed. Caroline Byrne directs Faith Alabi (Maima), Michelle Asante (Helena), Joan Iyiola (Bessie), T'Nia Miller (Rita) and Letitia Wright (Girl) in the second and final production of Gate Theatre's Freedom Burning season.The production opens on the 27 April, with previews from the 23 April and runs until the 16 May.
