Producer Suzi Dietz announced today that on the heels of its successful run in Los Angeles, Miss America's Ugly Daughter written and performed by Bess Myerson's only child, Barra Grant, will open in New York this winter. The U.S. premiere of ANNE, A NEW PLAY receives a sturdy mounting by the Simon Wiesenthal Center, under the strong directing reins of Eve Brandstein. The uniformly talented ensemble present most translucently the re-imagined Anne Frank's Diary of A Young Girl, in the words of playwrights Jessica Durlander & Leon de Winter (translated by Susan Massotty and adapted by Nick Blaemire). Sound designer Derek Christiansen most complementarily heightens the claustrophobic, hovering, impending doom with his ominous footsteps, bombs exploding, and static-ridden radio broadcasts.

Convinced that art can stimulate discussion and eliminate barriers, Jewish Women's Theatre (JWT) and NewGround: A Muslim-Jewish Partnership for Change, will host the world premiere of a new theatrical collaboration and art exhibit in Santa Monica on May 6. The salon-style play will tour throughout the Southland until May 22, with a show at the IMAN Center in LA on May 11.
