Vengeance, Murder, More On Stage As Opera San José Presents RIGOLETTO, February 17- March 3
Opera San José's 40th anniversary season continues with a thrilling production of Verdi's Rigoletto. Boasting some of opera's most memorable music, including the signature aria “La donna è mobile,” this gripping work follows the jester Rigoletto, his innocent daughter Gilda, and the corrupt Duke of Mantua whose callous treatment of women launches a storm of vengeance, murder, and tragic self-sacrifice.
Opera San José Launches Season With All-New ROMEO & JULIET
Opera San José will launch its 40th anniversary season with an all-new production of Charles Gounod's Romeo and Juliet, directed by OSJ General Director/CEO Shawna Lucey, in her first production since taking the helm of the company. Romeo and Juliet follows on the heels of Lucey's critically acclaimed La Traviata for San Francisco Opera, which is scheduled to be remounted at Los Angeles Opera this fall.
Solo Opera to Present The West Coast Premiere of THE THREE FEATHERS in September
Solo Opera will produce their largest, most ambitious opera to date, The Three Feathers, with music by award winning composer, Lori Laitman and libretto by former CA poet laureate, Dana Gioia. This family friendly 85-minute show will be sung in English and run Sept. 8 and 10, 2023 at the Lesher Center for the Arts in the 785 seat Hofmann Theater.
Opera Parallele Announces Cast Changes in THE SHINING
Opera Parallèle announced baritone singer Robert Wesley Mason will now sing the role of Jack Torrance and bass-baritone Kevin Deas will sing the role of Dick Hallorann in the company's upcoming West Coast premiere of The Shining, the critically acclaimed opera by Grammy Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning team of composer Paul Moravec and librettist Mark Campbell. Opera Parallèle welcomes both acclaimed singers in their company debut.

CONCERT OF COMPASSION Benefit Event for Ukraine to Be Held on May 9th
A benefit concert for Ukraine, Concert of Compassion, will be held Monday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m., at the historic Congregation Sherith Israel, 2266 California Street. Fiscally sponsored by The Resonance Project and produced by Jonathan Dimmock and Lukáš Janata, the Concert of Compassion will present an array of international classical music talent including renowned mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade; award-winning composer and pianist Jake Heggie; musicians from the San Francisco Symphony; members of the Artists’ Vocal Ensemble; The Bay Brass; Orthodox Bells authority Victor Avdienko; Ukrainian soprano Alina Ilchuk; baritone Eugene Brancoveanu; bass Matt Boehler and other artists soon-to-be-announced.
